Admissions requirements for all programs
Admission to ISB is competitive and takes into consideration the full record of the candidate for admission. The School prefers students with varied talents and interests. The following are the standards applied to all candidates for admission:
High school graduate or hold an equivalency certificate (G.E.D.). Foreign high school diplomas must be translated into English by a qualified outside agency, who can confirm it as equivalent to U.S. high school diploma
Iowa School of Beauty does not admit Ability-to-Benefit Students
Competent to meet the physical and other demands encountered in Cosmetology and related fields.
The School must receive:
A. ISB Application
B) Non-Refundable $100.00 application fee
C) Copy of high school diploma or GED certificate or have a State issued credential for Secondary school completion if home schooled, & prior learning credits, if applicable
D) Driver’s License/Photo ID or Copy of Birth Certificate
E) Copy of Social Security Card
F) Score at or above 9th grade reading level for Cosmetology and Nail Technology programs on Entrance/Wonderlic exam. Score at or above 11th grade reading level for Massage Therapy and Esthetics on Entrance/Wonderlic exam. Prospective student is allowed one retake after two weeks of initial examination. If retake does not meet requirements, the prospective student must wait 6 months from date of last attempt to reschedule examination.

In addition to the above: transcripts/proof of prior education.
(ISB will not make adjustments to recognize a student’s
prior education once the student has started classes.)
Transcripts of prior education must show the transfer applicant is meeting minimum standards of ISB for the student to be considered for entrance.
These minimum standards consist of at least 80% attendance and 75% academic average.
I) Re-Enrollment policy/charges:
Students who do not return from a leave of absence, are expelled, or withdraw from ISB may apply for re-entry into a program by making an appointment with the School Director. If approved for re-entry, the student needs to initiate the re-entry process with Admissions as if they are a new student. Students will be required to pay the prior enrollment balance owed prior to returning under the new enrollment. The student will charged at the current hourly rate for the hours remaining in their chosen program plus any books or kit items they may need. Students return at the same attendance and academic standing as their prior enrollment.
For graduates from ISB program(s), the graduate must have passed licensing examination in completed program(s) to apply for re-entry into another program at ISB.
Transfer students (In addition to the above):
